Winter Print Exchange 2022

·514 words·3 mins

Welcome to my Winter Print Exchange of 2022!

The purpose of this exchange is to build community and help facilitate introductions among photographers across the country. I also thought it would be a fun way to share your work with others, and who doesn’t love getting a nice print in the mail?

Scroll down to review rules and details! The link to enter is at the bottom of this page.

How It Will Work
#

The exchange will work like a Secret Santa:

  • Participants enter using the provided form.
  • I will randomly assign everyone a recipient and email each participant with their recipient’s mailing address.
  • Each participant chooses and prints a photo, then sends it to their assigned recipient! Feel free to include whatever personal touches you choose (an introduction, a note, some context behind the image, etc.).

Important dates:

  • December 7: deadline for entering
  • December 10: emailed with your recipient’s mailing address
  • December 31: deadline for shipping your print to your assigned recipient

The Rules
#

  1. By entering, you agree to send a print to someone else. This one should go without saying, but just want to be crystal clear!
  2. Participants must be based in the United States. This is to keep shipping costs down and to keep things a little simpler for the inaugural run. If the exchange is a success and I organize it again next year, maybe we’ll try opening it up to participants from other countries!
  3. Prints must be A4/letter-size or smaller. Again, this is to keep costs down.
  4. Your selected image must have been made locally (i.e. within a reasonable drive from your home). Part of the fun with this exchange will be seeing an image from someone else’s neck of the woods (and sharing a scene from yours!). Note that the image does not have to be a winter image! Any subject and any time of year is acceptable, so long as the image was made locally.
  5. Your print must be shipped to its recipient by December 31, 2022. We don’t want anyone waiting around for their print!

That’s it for rules! A couple other points to acknowledge:

  • I cannot guarantee that everyone who enters will actually send a print. There are a million reasons that someone might fail to follow through. If this happens, assume positive intent and let me know so that we can work something out.
  • Obviously, I have to collect some personal information to facilitate the exchange (i.e. your mailing address). I will also have to give your address to someone else so that they can send you your print. I will safeguard this information as if it were my own and delete it once the exchange is over, but I cannot make any guarantees about how that information will be handled by other participants.
  • This is my first time organizing something like this. I don’t know what I don’t know. So bear with me if things don’t run perfectly smoothly this time around! :)
